Agartala, 6th December 2024: The All India Krishak Sabha (AIKS) Tripura State Committee has been actively protesting since January against the BJP government’s alleged inhuman approach towards farmers affected by the recent floods. State Committee Secretary Pabitra Kar addressed a press conference today, highlighting the plight of the farmers and the lack of promised financial assistance.
“Farmers have been severely affected by the terrible floods in Tripura. The central and state governments had assured the farmers of financial assistance, but it seems that financial aid is not being provided yet,” said Pavitra Kar. He expressed his frustration over the delay and criticized the government’s handling of the situation.
Kar further explained that the members of the Mandal are currently preparing the list of assistance for the farmers affected by the floods. “The money from the Central Government’s Natural Disaster Fund is spent by the Chief Secretary and the District Magistrates of each district. We will ensure that the funds are utilized properly,” he added.
In a bid to address the issue, Kar announced that an AIKS delegation would meet with the Chief Secretary to discuss the disbursement of funds. “By December 20, a delegation of AIKS will give a deputation to each District Magistrate of the state to ensure that the farmers receive the financial assistance they deserve,” he stated.
The continuous movement by AIKS highlights the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action to support the flood-affected farmers.
