Agartala: August 16. In a heartwarming turn of events, a pregnant woman’s life was saved due intelligence of an ambulance driver. The incident unfolded as the woman was being transported from Belonia to Gomati District Hospital for childbirth. However, the situation took a critical turn during the ambulance journey, prompting the ambulance driver to make a split-second decision that ultimately led to a successful delivery.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the ambulance driver diverted the route and swiftly brought the pregnant woman to Garji Primary Health Centre. There, the attending doctor, Dr. Saptdeep Das, rose to the occasion and skillfully managed to deliver the baby. The woman’s condition was such that she couldn’t be referred to Gomati District Hospital for delivery. The medical team, composed of dedicated health workers, faced this challenge head-on, demonstrating their commitment to providing top-notch care under difficult circumstances. Against all odds, two female children were born at approximately 6:15 am, both of whom are reported to be in stable condition.

Hospital doctor Saptadip Das commended the teamwork and quick response that resulted in a successful outcome. He highlighted that the cooperation between the ambulance driver, medical personnel, and health workers played a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of both the mother and the newborns.
