Agartala: June 01. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, Dipak Majumder today said that the corporation is planning to install a total of 26 Integrated Water Resource Plans (IRP)s at acost of Rs 182 crore to solve the acute problem of drinking water in Agartala city.
He said that this IRP will be established as a source of clean drinking water under the Atal Jal Dhara Amrit IIproject of the Government of India. A Bhoomi Puja was organized toset up an IRP of the project at Bitterbon in Ward No. 13 on Thursday. Mayor Majumder was present. Later, the mayor said that there is a water crisis in different wards of Agartala city. Therefore Agartala Municipal Corporation, Urban Development Department, and Jal Board are jointly trying to prevent the crisis. So far 26deep tube wells have been installed.“There is some land problem to make this arrangement for drinking water in more than twenty places.
Deep tube wells will be installed in the next 7 to 8 months to solve the problem quickly. About three hundred families will benefit from this project. The people of the area were deprived of drinking water for 25 years. Many demands have been raised by the residents and therefore, the corporation is establishing this source of drinking water to fulfill the long-standing demand of the residents”, he told reporters. Apart from the mayor, Ward No. 13Corporator Pradip Chandra and Corporate Hiralal Debnath were present that day.
