Agartala, 25th October 2025: The Amra Bangali Party has strongly condemned the recent violence in Santirbazar, Kamalpur subdivision, where several individuals, including SDPO, BDO and local shopkeepers were attacked by picketers during the October 23 strike. The party claims that despite prior warnings, the state government failed to ensure adequate security in sensitive areas.
Party representatives today visited GB Hospital to check on the injured, expressing concern over the lack of administrative attention toward Subrata Pal, a businessman who sustained serious eye injuries. Pal reportedly had to seek private treatment due to inadequate medical support.
Speaking to reporters, the Amra Bangali Party’s secretary criticized the Chief Minister’s pre-strike announcement opposing the bandh and encouraging businesses to remain open. “Many shopkeepers trusted the government and kept their shops open, only to be attacked by extremist anti-Bengali elements after sundown,” he said.
The party alleged that police across Tripura tacitly supported strike enforcers, leading to widespread vandalism, arson, and assaults on civilians and officials. “Even ambulance and fire services were obstructed, and wedding vehicles were vandalized,” the secretary added.
The Amra Bangali Party also accused the government of barring opposition leaders from visiting affected areas, including former MPs being stopped en route to Dharmanagar. They criticized the Chief Minister for attending a party rally in Mungiakami instead of assessing the situation in Santirbazar.
Drawing parallels to past violence, the party referenced the 1980 Mandai massacre and recent incidents in Gandacherra, alleging continued neglect of Bengali victims across political regimes. They blamed excessive tribal appeasement for the recurring unrest.
The party further highlighted rising drug abuse, unemployment, and deteriorating infrastructure, accusing the government of prioritizing political theatrics over public welfare. “Despite promises of 50,000 jobs annually, only a fraction has been delivered while thousands remain jobless,” the secretary stated.
Calling for inclusive development, the Amra Bangali Party reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and the vision of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, urging the government to uphold the democratic rights of all communities.
