Agartala, 25th October 2025: Tensions flared outside Sabroom police station in South district this morning as residents of Baishnabpur and ADC Village staged a protest demanding swift action in the case of a missing schoolgirl Nandita Tripura. The 14-year-old student from Kamalajot area has been missing since October 19, but police have yet to trace her whereabouts.
According to family members, Nandita disappeared from her rented accommodation in Sabroom town. Despite lodging a formal complaint, her father alleged that police have failed to provide any updates or leads in the investigation, even after a week.
The protest, which included Nandita’s parents and dozens of local residents, turned tense when her mother reportedly fell ill during the demonstration. Protesters expressed deep frustration over what they described as administrative apathy and lack of urgency from law enforcement.
“We entered the station hoping for answers, but officials could not offer any satisfactory explanation,” said one of the demonstrators.
Local residents accused the police of not taking adequate steps to locate the missing minor and urged the state government to intervene immediately. Social workers present at the scene emphasized the need for stronger policing and preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.
As of this evening, Sabroom Police had not issued an official statement. However, sources within the department confirmed that search operations are ongoing and efforts are being made to trace the girl.
