Amtali police raids at Agartala Railway Station, arrested two with weapons

Agartala, 25th May 2024 :  The Amtali police station’s officers conducted a raid at the Agartala railway station on Saturday resulting in the seizure of a 9 mm pistol and two magazines. The raid was based on confidential intelligence that indicated the arrival of two individuals armed with weapons on the Jana Shatabdi Express from Dharmanagar in North Tripura District.

The police, in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), strategically positioned themselves and subsequently detained a male and female suspect for questioning. The thorough interrogation led to the recovery of the aforementioned firearms.

The detainees have been identified as Karan Debbarma (24) and Priya Debbarma (22), who hails from North Maharanipur in Khowai district. Charges have been pressed against the duo, and they are currently under arrest. This incident underscores the vigilance and proactive measures taken by the Amtali police in maintaining public safety and combating illegal arms trafficking.
