Agartala, 6th January 2026:    Even before the shock of the Srinagar incident could subside, the blood-soaked body of another young housewife was recovered within 24 hours from the Salema Motor Stand area, triggering widespread panic and tension in the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Lipika Sharma (27). According to preliminary police findings, she was allegedly murdered after being struck forcefully on the head. Police and forensic teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported and collected samples for investigation.

Sources revealed that Lipika had been living at her parental home for a long time. Her father suspects that the murder may be linked to a romantic dispute, although the exact motive behind the crime remains unclear.

Lipika’s husband, Dipak Debnath, a resident of Manikbhandar Ghati area, stated that he had been separated from his wife for nearly nine years. The couple has a daughter, who had been living with Lipika after their separation. However, Dipak claimed that Lipika later became involved in a POCSO case, following which he brought their daughter to his own home and admitted her to a local school.

Dipak further alleged that he later came to know about Lipika’s relationship with a man named Sujit Das. On Tuesday morning, he received a phone call from his in-laws asking him to come immediately with his daughter. Upon reaching the house, he found Lipika’s body lying behind the house.

According to police sources, Lipika’s father-in-law has also expressed suspicion that Sujit Das may be involved in the murder. However, no arrests have been made so far.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police officials, including Salema Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dipak Das, have stated that all possible angles are being investigated.
