Agartala, 24th January 2025: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized one day awareness programme on “Plant Genetic Resources (NEH Scheme)”. The programme is jointly organised by ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CAU, Imphal), Sepahijala today.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr G. P Singh, Director, ICAR-NBPGR, DR P K Singh Nodal Officer NEH ICAR- NBPGR, and Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The main objective of this programme is to create awareness of Plant Genetic Resources. The programme was organized under the technical guidance of Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I), Manipur, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, Tripura, Dr Julius Uchoi, senior scientist, ICAR-NBPGR and supervision of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura.
Technical sessions on Role of NBPGR in PGR management, Plant Genetic Resources Conservation for nutritional and livelihood security , Genetic resources of underexploited Fruits in Tripura, Conservation genetics for conserving Genetic diversity of flora of Tripura were delivered by Dr Julius Uchoi, senior scientist, ICAR-NBPGR, Dr Utpal Dey SMS, Plant protection, KVK sephailala, Tripura, CAU (I), DR Ezekiel Reang, Assistant Professor, department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Tripura, Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS Agronamy Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior scientist and head, KVK Sephailala, Tripura, CAU (I), Respectively. Total of 110 participants farmers of Sepahijala district participated in the day long programme. During the programme inputs like Sickle, Spade, Knapsack sprayer, Pruning secateur, LED torch, HDPE Vermibed, Tarpaulin sheet & Farmer kits (Backpack polyester bag, pen, lemon sapling, vegetable kit were distributed among the farmers.
