Agartala, June 11, 2023: In a distressing turn of events, a car accident on Agartala-Sabroom National Highway led to several pedestrians being injured. The incident unfolded when a speeding bus collided with a motorcyclist near Bishalgarh police station. Instead of stopping, the bus attempted to flee the scene, prompting pedestrians and local business owners to give chase and intercept the bus.

During the confrontation, the bus driver forcibly ejected Tuton Biswas from the vehicle and subjected him to physical assault. The authorities were alerted, and both the police and firefighters promptly arrived at the location. Firefighters rescued the injured bus driver and rushed him to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for severe head and abdominal injuries sustained in the ensuing chaos. The bus involved in the incident was identified as TR07-1223 and has been confiscated by the police for further investigation.

Local residents have expressed their concern over the frequent occurrence of accidents on the national highways. They point out that the well-maintained roads have resulted in passenger buses and other vehicles operating at dangerous speeds with little regard for safety. The lack of effective measures from both the administration and motorists is being held responsible for this alarming situation.
