Agartala, June 11, 2023: In a significant development, law enforcement agencies successfully apprehended a suspected drug dealer in the Chakmaghat area. The arrest took place after vigilant Jawans of the 71st Battalion of CRPF, in collaboration with the Special Branch of Teliamura Police Station and Teliamura Police Station personnel, noticed a suspicious individual loitering in the vicinity over the past few days.
The detainee, identified as Bijoy Debbarma, was taken into custody following a thorough operation conducted on Sunday. A remarkable haul of 91 vials of brown sugar was confiscated from an area adjacent to the Chakmaghat barrage, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 50,000.
Bijoy Debbarma, hailing from Ganganagar area in the Dhalai district, is currently under investigation by the authorities. The police are diligently interrogating him to determine the source of the illicit narcotics and gather vital information related to his drug distribution network.
The successful arrest and seizure have dealt a significant blow to the drug trade in the region, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the 71 Battalion of CRPF, the Special Branch of Teliamura Police Station, and the Teliamura Police Station in combating the menace of drug trafficking.
