Agartala, 25th January 2024 : On Thursday, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha of Tripura underscored the significance of National Voter’s Day, urging every enfranchised citizen to actively engage in the electoral process, especially targeting the youth community.
The 14th state-level National Voter’s Day was commemorated in Agartala at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, featuring a series of events.
In his inaugural address, Chief Secretary JK Sinha emphasized the theme of this year’s National Voter’s Day: ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure.’ He highlighted the day’s objective to inspire the youth to exercise their voting rights and commended the peaceful and festive atmosphere consistently maintained during polling in the state.
Sinha expressed pride in the high voter turnout in Tripura and urged residents to vote fearlessly, actively participating in the democratic process. As part of the celebrations, Epic Cards were presented to 10 new voters.
State Election Commissioner Sharadindu Chowdhury, among other dignitaries, addressed the gathering. Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal delivered the welcome address, and the west district magistrate, Dr. Visal Kumar, was also in attendance.
In addition to the Epic Cards presented to new voters, National Voter’s Day featured the presence of notable figures such as Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, Paraswimmer Samir Barman, and eminent transgender personality Nupur Chakraborty.
