Agartala, 12th March 2025: The traditional Bankul Mahamuni festival and fair is set to commence on March 13 at the historic Bankul Mahamuni temple in Rupaichari block of Sabroom.
The five-day festival will continue till March 17, featuring religious ceremonies, cultural programs, and exhibition stalls. The grand inaugural ceremony will take place at 4 PM on March 13, with Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha formally inaugurating the festival.
The event is being jointly organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Sabroom Subdivision Administration, and Mahamuni Development Society. Several dignitaries, including Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Mailafru Mog, MDC Kangjang Mog, and TTAADC CEO Chandra Kumar Jamatia, will grace the occasion as special guests.
Additionally, Rupaichari BAC Chairman Rakhi Tripura and Rupaichhari Block BDO Abhijit Majumder will be present as guests of honor. The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by South Tripura Zilla Parishad President Deepak Dutta. During the festival, various Buddhist religious rituals will be performed, reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of the region. Several government departments will set up exhibition stalls at the fair, showcasing local crafts, initiatives, and welfare programs. Each evening, attendees can look forward to mesmerizing cultural performances by both local and international artists, adding vibrancy to the festival. The event is expected to attract a large number of devotees, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts, reinforcing the cultural and religious significance of the Mahamuni festival in Tripura.
