Agartala, 25th June 2026: A political controversy has surfaced in Tripura ahead of the proposed commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the Election Commission, with the CPI(M) raising objections over separate meetings reportedly held with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from the Kalyanpur and Teliamura assembly constituencies.
A press conference was organized on Thursday at the CPI(M)’s Teliamura Sub-divisional office, where Sub-divisional Committee Secretary Subhash Nath, former MLA Manindra Chandra Das, and other party leaders were present. Addressing the media, Subhash Nath alleged that a meeting involving BLOs was held on June 21 at Lotus Community Hall in Kalyanpur under the leadership of local MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury.
He further claimed that another meeting was conducted on June 22 at the office of the Teliamura Sub-divisional Magistrate, reportedly in the presence of Kalyani Saha Roy, involving officials associated with the electoral revision process.
The CPI(M) leaders expressed concern over the participation of political representatives in meetings involving personnel assigned election-related responsibilities. They alleged that such activities could create doubts regarding the neutrality and transparency of the electoral process.
“Personnel engaged in election duties must be allowed to perform their responsibilities without any pressure or influence,” Subhash Nath said, stressing the importance of maintaining public confidence in the election system.
The party leadership alleged that the meetings were an attempt to influence the administrative process and demanded greater caution from the authorities to ensure that election-related work remains free from political interference.
The issue has already triggered discussions among political circles. However, no official statement has been issued by the administration regarding the allegations so far.
