Agartala, 29th March 2024 :    In a harrowing incident, a group of assailants unleashed a deadly assault on several families residing in the Bhadra Misi Para locality, situated under Jirania police station. The attack left a woman critically injured, along with an elderly member of the targeted family identified as Abutahar Miah, aged 75.

According to statements provided by the victims’ family, the perpetrators, allegedly led by individuals named Rajiv Debbarma and Rakesh Debbarma, both residents of Bhadra Misi Para, launched the assault on their residence merely days after a previous altercation.

The family recounted a series of events leading up to the tragic incident, highlighting a dispute over property ownership. Earlier, the accused had forcibly seized one of their properties, prompting police intervention to resolve the dispute. Subsequently, the family reportedly sold another piece of land for a sum of Rs 10 lakh, further exacerbating tensions.

The assailants struck on Thursday night, sparing no member of the household from their brutality. Particularly targeted was Abutahar Miah, who sustained severe injuries during the attack. It is alleged that the miscreants plundered the household, seizing the proceeds from the recent land sale.

Following the assault, Abutahar Miah was rushed to GB Hospital for urgent medical attention, where he currently remains in critical condition. The family has announced their intent to pursue legal recourse, vowing to file a formal complaint against the accused at the local police station.

The incident has stirred outrage within the community, prompting calls for swift justice and enhanced security measures to safeguard residents against such brazen acts of violence. Authorities have yet to release a statement regarding the ongoing investigation into the attack.
