Agartala, 6th January 2026: Tripura experienced largely dry weather conditions with frequent fog during December 2025, as dense fog affected several parts of the state, particularly during late-night and early morning hours.
According to a report released by the Meteorological Centre, Agartala, and shared by Scientist-C Dr. Partha Roy, the state recorded 11 dense fog days during the month, including six days of very dense fog.
Temperature variations remained mostly within normal limits. The lowest minimum temperature at Agartala Airport was 11.6 degrees Celsius, recorded on December 31. The average mean minimum temperature for the month stood at 13.9 degrees Celsius, which was 0.9 degrees above normal. Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperature reached 30.4 degrees Celsius on December 13, while the average mean maximum temperature was 26.3 degrees Celsius, marginally 0.1 degrees below normal.
Rainfall activity across Tripura remained negligible throughout December. Very light rainfall was reported only in parts of West Tripura district, while all other districts experienced dry weather. Overall, the state received only trace rainfall during the month, against the normal average of 11.6 mm, resulting in a 100 percent rainfall deficit.
Station-wise observations indicated that Agartala recorded the highest rainfall of 0.7 mm during December, which was also the highest 24-hour rainfall, recorded on December 30. District-wise, West Tripura received the highest rainfall at 0.2 mm, marking a significant deficit of 98 percent compared to normal levels.
