Agartala, 16th November 2025: With the onset of winter and the rise in seasonal ailments like fever, cold, and cough, Tripura is now facing an added threat a growing outbreak of dengue.
After cases were first reported in Unakoti, fresh dengue infections have now been detected in Agartala and Jirania, alarming both residents and health authorities.
According to sources, multiple wards across Agartala city, along with several suburban and remote areas of the state, are witnessing an increase in dengue cases. In the past two weeks alone, several patients have been identified in Agartala, including two from the Ramnagar area. Health officials have, however, promptly traced and treated these patients, leading to their recovery.
In response to the rising threat, the state Health Department has intensified awareness and preventive measures. Special instructions have been issued to Community Health Officers (CHOs) at primary health centres, and ASHA workers have been directed to conduct door-to-door visits to monitor public health conditions.
Sources claim that ongoing development work in Agartala — including unfinished drainage systems and accumulated garbage — has led to stagnant water, creating ideal breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, the primary carriers of dengue. Cases have been confirmed in both Agartala and Jirania, with treatment underway. Similar reports have emerged from remote areas such as Lembuchhara, where patient numbers are also rising.
Many patients are experiencing severe body pain, chills, and high fever, and some continue to struggle with symptoms even after hospital admission. While hospitals have arranged special treatment facilities for dengue patients, the Health Department is putting greater emphasis on preventive measures.
ASHA workers are urging households to ensure that no stagnant water is left around homes, as even small collections of water can facilitate mosquito breeding and accelerate the spread of dengue.
