Agartala, March 23: Today marks the 94th martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev, and Raj Guru, three of the most influential revolutionaries of India’s freedom movement. The day was observed with due respect by four left organizations – the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the Tripura Students Union (TSU), the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), and the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF).

Leaders from these organizations paid their respects to the martyrs by laying wreaths at their memorials. The commemoration served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by these young revolutionaries in their fight against British imperialism.

In 1931, Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev, and Raj Guru were hanged by the British for their role in the struggle for India’s independence. Their goal was not just to expel the British from India, but also to establish a society where food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare were accessible to all.

DYFI state president, Palash Bhowmik, spoke at the event, emphasizing the continued relevance of these revolutionaries in today’s context. He criticized the current government for making various promises during elections, including door-to-door employment, but failing to deliver on them.

Bhowmik also expressed concern over the state of the country’s education system, accusing the present government of undermining it. He warned that there are attempts to hand over the education system entirely to private capitalists, which could have far-reaching implications for the country’s future.
