Agartala, 17th July 2024: A 79-year-old pensioner Kanti Rani Bhattacharya residing in the Milan Chakra area of the capital city finds herself in a difficult situation due to a tenant dispute. A resident of Kamalpur sub-division Parimal Shil has been occupying her house since October 26, 2018, but his lease as a tenant expired on December 1, 2021.
Despite the contract period ending, Parimal Shil has not vacated the premises and has also failed to pay any rent. Shockingly, he is demanding a hefty sum of Rs 7 lakh for vacating the land.
Kanti Rani Bhattacharya reported the matter to the AD Nagar police station, but instead of resolution, she was directed to a local club. There, she was advised to pay the demanded amount to Parimal Shil.
Feeling helpless, Kanti Rani Bhattacharya sought assistance from the Women’s Commission and also approached the Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
Allegedly, she is facing threats in various forms. Now, the community awaits administrative intervention to address this distressing situation.
