Agartala, 21st August 2024:  Continuous rainfall led to severe flooding at the main referral hospital of the state, GB Hospital, on Wednesday morning. Water inundated the trauma center, causing significant disruptions.

Despite the cleaning staff’s prolonged efforts, water remained in the ward and emergency department well beyond the scheduled time. This unprecedented incident, a first in the hospital’s history, created a challenging environment for doctors and health workers who had to expedite their services.

Patients and their families also faced considerable difficulties. Some attributed the flooding to infrastructural negligence, expressing frustration over the hospital’s unpreparedness. The day saw doctors, health workers, patients, and their families all enduring significant hardship.
