Agartala, 16th April 2026 : Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu today visited the newly constructed 8 MLD-capacity sewage treatment plant near the Akhaura checkpost, underscoring the state’s commitment to modernizing urban waste management. He was accompanied by Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Saju Vaheed A and Agartala Smart City Limited CEO Dr. G. S. Nayak.
During the inspection, officials briefed the Governor on the plant’s operational processes, technological features, and its environmental significance. They highlighted the facility’s role in improving the city’s sewage management system and safeguarding public health. Governor Nallu toured various units of the plant and engaged in discussions with engineers and project managers.
The Akhaura sewage treatment plant is regarded as a milestone in strengthening Agartala’s sanitation infrastructure, with authorities emphasizing its contribution to pollution control and ecological preservation.
In addition to the Akhaura facility, the Governor inspected several other installations, including the Chandinamuura Material Recovery Facility (MRF) station, a transfer station, and the Usha Bazar water treatment plant. At Usha Bazar, he also reviewed floodwater drainage arrangements.
Concluding his visit, Governor Nallu expressed satisfaction with the progress and efficiency of the projects. He stressed the importance of sustaining such development initiatives to ensure cleaner cities and healthier communities.
