Agartala, 13th March 2025: The Kailashahar Women’s Police Station has arrested Abdul Jalal, accused of attacking his wife with a sharp blade from the Kubjhar area last night. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Jalal, who had been absconding since the incident and presented him before the District Sessions Court this afternoon.
Speaking to media personnel, Officer-in-Charge Ripita Bhattacharya stated, “On February 20, Abdul Jalal, a resident of Yezoakhaora under Irani police station in Kailashahar visited his in-laws’ house in Pakhirbada on his bike. There, he attacked his wife Rukia Begum with a sharp blade causing severe injuries to her head. She was rushed to the district hospital in critical condition.”
The incident sparked outrage among locals, leading to the burning of Jalal’s bike by an agitated crowd. Following the attack, Rukia Begum filed a written complaint against her husband, and a case (No. 06/25) was registered. However, Jalal had been evading arrest until his capture yesterday.
