Agartala, 7th December 2024: Despite significant advancements in medical services, South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar continues to struggle with infrastructure problems forcing patients to receive treatment in unhygienic conditions.
According to local sources, the hospital’s two-storey building is plagued by water leakage issues. After using the toilets, wastewater flows down to the lower floor, causing severe inconvenience to patients and their relatives seeking medical services. The hospital’s doctors are compelled to provide medical care in these unsanitary conditions.
Recently, repair work was carried out on the hospital’s roof and other areas due to water leakage from the upper floor. However, locals allege that the repairs were superficial and only enriched the contractor’s pockets. The issue resurfaced within a few days, causing further discomfort to patients and healthcare workers.
Residents are calling on the state government to take immediate action to address these persistent infrastructure problems. They emphasize the need for thorough and high-quality repairs to ensure a hygienic environment for both patients and medical staff at South Tripura District Hospital.
