Agartala, 31st July 2024: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma, was sworn in as the Governor of Telangana at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Alok Aradhe. The ceremony was attended by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with other ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and senior officials.
Upon his arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad earlier in the morning, the new Governor received a warm welcome from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, Director-General of Police Dr. Jitendra, and other senior officials were also present.
This appointment is part of a recent round of gubernatorial changes made by President Droupadi Murmu, who appointed nine new Governors. After taking office in Telangana, Dev Varma will travel to New Delhi later in the evening for a scheduled meeting.
