Agartala, 29th November 2025:   Leader of the Opposition and MLA from the 40-Sabroom assembly constituency Jitendra Chaudhury spent touring several villages under Sabroom subdivision yesterday to assess the deteriorating condition of rural roads, electricity supply lines and drinking water sources. Later in the day, he convened a review meeting with administrative officials, pressing for immediate remedial measures.

During his visit, Chaudhury inspected villages including Paschim Tekkatusli, Purba Tekkatusli, Betaga, Harbatli and Dasharath Nagar ADC areas as well as Rajnagar, Madhavnagar and Srinagar Gram Panchayats along with Poangbari and Satchand blocks. Residents highlighted the long-standing neglect of roads, water sources, and power lines, many of which have been awaiting repair or reconstruction for years.

Local villagers informed Chaudhury that several areas require not only urgent repairs but also new infrastructure, including fresh road links, expanded drinking water facilities, and extended electricity lines. They pointed out that since the devastating floods of August 2024, the condition of the Manubazar–Srinagar main road and numerous rural water sources has worsened significantly, with little initiative from the state government or ADC authorities to address the crisis.

Chaudhury assured residents that their demands would be presented comprehensively before the administration.

Later in the afternoon, he chaired a meeting at the Sabroom Nagar Panchayat conference hall with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Block Development Officers of Satchand, Rupaichari, and Poangbari, as well as engineers from PWD, Rural Development, and DWS departments. In the meeting, he shared his field observations and urged officials to act swiftly in the interest of local communities. He also emphasized the need to generate more employment under MGNREGA and raised concerns about timely wage payments.

The MLA further reviewed the progress of projects under his constituency development plan. His proactive engagement with officials and insistence on urgent interventions drew significant enthusiasm among local residents, who expressed hope for tangible improvements in the near future.
