Agartala, 1st November 2025:  Police personnel and TSR jawans jointly carried out a large-scale destruction drive of cannabis plants in the forested areas of Tholibari ADC Village under Jatrapur Police Station.

The OC Smriti Kantha Bardhan said that approximately 7,000 cannabis plants were uprooted and destroyed across four separate plots during the operation.

This marks the eighth such cannabis eradication drive in the current season, Bardhan confirmed. Acting on confidential intelligence, a team led by Sub-Inspector Bijoy Chakraborty, ASI Tapan Debnath, and ASI Kafurai Debbarma launched the raid in the identified forest zones.

During the operation, authorities discovered active cannabis cultivation in four distinct plots. Following legal protocol, all plants were cut down and incinerated on-site.

OC Bardhan emphasized that regular surveillance and enforcement efforts are underway to curb illegal cannabis farming in the region. He also noted that continued cooperation from local residents will be crucial in sustaining future operations.
