Agartala, 25th February 2025:   Controversy has erupted after MLA Tofazzal Hossain of Boxanagar Assembly Constituency was accused of entering an examination center during the ongoing Higher Secondary Examination and allegedly disturbing students. The incident took place at Nagar High School on the first day of the exams conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on February 24.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the MLA not only entered the examination hall unauthorized but also attempted to distract the examinees by standing among them. Reportedly, he raised his hands multiple times, creating confusion among the students. The presence of an outsider within the premises of an examination center has raised serious questions about the role of the local education department and TBSE, as strict guidelines generally prohibit any unauthorized entry, including that of parents or guardians.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate legal action against MLA Hossain. In a statement, NSUI questioned whether the education department or TBSE had granted him permission to enter the examination center. They insisted that if no authorization was given, then appropriate legal steps should be taken against the MLA for violating examination protocols and disturbing students during their crucial test.

The student body has called upon the education department and TBSE to take stringent measures and file a case against Tofazzal Hossain to prevent any such incidents in the future. The opposition has also criticized the administration, demanding clarity on how the MLA was able to breach security and disrupt the examination process. As the controversy unfolds, the Tripura Board of Secondary Education is yet to release an official statement on the matter. Meanwhile, concerns over the sanctity and fairness of the examination process continue to grow among students, parents, and the education fraternity.
