Agartala, 27th August 2025 :   Acting on a tip-off, police from Jatrapur Police Station launched a successful anti-cannabis operation in the Jaguriacherra area resulting in the destruction of more than 2,00,000 cannabis plants.

According to a senior police official, the operation was initiated early this morning following confidential intelligence that large-scale cannabis cultivation was underway in the remote riverine belt of Jaguriacherra under Jatrapur Police Station.

Led by the Officer-in-Charge, the team included Sub-Inspectors Amar Kishore Debbarma and Pritam Dutta, along with several TSR personnel and police constables. The team navigated rugged terrain south of the Kakari River in the Kathalia Panchayat area, where they uncovered multiple large-scale cannabis nurseries.

“It took nearly an hour and a half to completely dismantle the plantations. All nursery plots were cleared and destroyed on-site,” said a police official.

The official added that the operation was conducted under directives from senior officials in the Home Department and that similar raids will continue if further intelligence is received.
