Agartala: August 10. In a strategic move aimed at expanding its reach and inclusivity, the Pradesh Congress has announced plans to launch a membership drive in the Janajati area.
PCC President Asish Kumar Saha said that the drive aims to engage with and empower tribal communities, fostering a stronger political connection between the Congress party and these marginalized groups
He emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of tribal communities and establishing a platform for their voices within the political landscape.
“To initiate this campaign, the Pradesh Congress leadership has scheduled a meeting with tribal leaders on August 22. This gathering aims to foster dialogue and cooperation, focusing on the unique challenges faced by tribal communities and ways in which the Congress party can better serve their needs”, he said.
During a recent meeting at the Congress Bhavan, several key party leaders were present, including All India leader Szarita Laitphlang, MLA Sudip Roy Burman, and former MLA Diba Chandra Hrankhwal were present.
Discussions during this meeting centered around the 125th amendment bill and other demands put forth by the tribal population. Expressing concern over the neglect of tribal communities, the state Congress president stressed the need to address their issues promptly.
