Agartala: November 08. In a major blow to the BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura, the former minister and IPFT MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatia has tendered his resignation before the Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty today evening.

While speaking with reporters, IPFT MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatia said, “Today I have resigned as a member of Tripura legislative assembly. As you all know that I was contemplating for a long for this resignation. Only I want to express my sadness that in my four years of minister tenure, I came from a regional party IPFT and formed alliance with BJP. Before alliance we have some commitment and demands. I personally met the central government many times and signed many MoUs for the development of the indigenous people of the state but nothing has been done”.

He also said that even after meeting with several senior ministers nothing has been done.

“In Tripura there are lot of hopes and aspiration that BJP and IPFT government will do something for government. There are so many vacancies, around 20, 000 back log posts are lying vacant for ST. I appealed many times and told the Home Minister Amit Shah and he has assured me so many times but nothing has happened”, said the MLA.

Mevar further claimed that the relationship of BJP and IPFT is not a cordial relationship.“But we can’t do anything and zero performance for the people. I want to work, and want to do something for people but nothing has happened. The BJP has promises that 50000 jobs will be given but nothing has been happened. So far seven MLAs have resigned. In the first time in Tripura which proved that the performance of government is not up to the mark. The state has large number of employment, people have become hopeless. Already time has gone for the fulfilling of their demands”, said Mevar.
