Agartala, 15th December 2024: Residents of Ward No. 12 under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) have voiced their frustration over the absence of any visible development in the area. The locality adjacent to the Radhamadhav Club, which falls under the jurisdiction of councilor Santana Saha, is reeling under broken roads, unclean drains, and piles of garbage, causing severe inconvenience to the residents.
Residents accuse Santana Saha of failing to fulfill her pre-election promises of repairing roads, constructing drains, and ensuring drinking water for every household. An elderly resident of the area lamented, “Before the elections, she made numerous promises. But since her victory, we have seen no action. Our roads are unusable, the drains overflow, and the stench of garbage makes living here unbearable.”
According to locals, despite repeated appeals, Saha has shown indifference to the problems. “She visits the area occasionally, but nothing changes. She smiles and dismisses our complaints,” said a frustrated resident.
The lack of action has led to a complete breakdown of basic civic amenities in the area. Poor road conditions have resulted in frequent accidents, while unmaintained drains have contributed to environmental pollution. Locals claim that the stench from the garbage and drains has made life intolerable.
Residents are also critical of Saha’s alleged disconnect with the area, accusing her of not understanding their plight because she is not originally from the locality. “We voted for her with the hope of change, but nothing has improved. Her promises of development have remained only words,” a resident said.
