Agartala, October 15: In a heart-warming initiative aimed at providing solace and happiness to senior citizens and retirees, the ‘Praveen Angan’ was officially inaugurated at Kali Dighi Para in Dharmanagar. The inauguration took place on Saturday evening, coinciding with ‘Purna Lagna’ of Mahalaya, and was officiated by State Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen.
The ‘Praveen Angan’, designed to cater to the needs of senior citizens, was established with the primary objective of bringing joy and tranquillity to the elderly residents of Dharmanagar. The inaugural event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including chairman Pradyut Dey Sarkar, vice-chairman Manju Rani Nath, and philanthropist Shyamal Kanti Nath, along with all councilors and employees of the local council.
The ‘Praveen Angan’ is equipped with a range of amenities and activities to cater to the needs and preferences of senior citizens. For those who enjoy leisurely indoor activities, the facility offers games like Keram and Chess that can be played while seated comfortably. In addition, a substantial collection of books, newspapers, and magazines is available for those seniors who are inclined towards reading and knowledge enrichment. The ‘Praveen Angan’ also features a television to provide entertainment for the elderly occupants.
To ensure that the health and well-being of senior citizens are well-maintained, the facility is equipped with various health monitoring instruments, including weight measuring devices, blood sugar monitoring tools, and blood pressure measuring instruments. These resources are invaluable in assisting seniors in managing their health and ensuring that they are in good condition.
