Agartala, 6th September 2025: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali celebrations, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional administration convened a high-level meeting this evening to issue strict directives to all local clubs and puja committees regarding fund collection and public conduct during the festivities.
Held at the Bishalgarh Panchayat Samiti conference hall, the meeting was attended by MLAs from Bishalgarh and Kamalasagar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dulal Chandra Datta, SDM Rakesh Chakraborty, officers-in-charge from Bishalgarh, Bishramganj and Madhupur police stations along with officials from various line departments.
The administration has issued clear directives regarding Durga Puja fund collection. Coercive methods of soliciting donations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Clubs are strictly prohibited from approaching government offices or courts for contributions. Door-to-door collection is permitted only between 7 to 9 AM and 3 to 5 PM, and must be carried out by no more than two representatives. Collecting donations after dusk is not allowed. Additionally, fund collection from vehicles or marketplaces has been explicitly banned. The administration has warned that any violation of these guidelines will result in legal action.
In line with recent court rulings, the administration has banned DJ sound systems and loudspeakers near hospitals. High-volume orchestras during Durga Puja and Diwali are also prohibited. All cultural programs must conclude by 10 PM each night.
Club authorities and puja organizers are instructed to significantly reduce sound levels after 10 PM. Non-compliance will result in legal consequences.
All participating clubs and committees expressed unanimous support for the administration’s directives. MLAs emphasized that while the Durga Puja is a deeply cherished festival, public celebrations must not disrupt others’ peace. “Let your joy not become someone else’s distress,” they urged.
