Student of class IX injured in electrocution accident during Saraswati Puja at Kalyanpur

Agartala, 4th February 2025:   A tragic accident took place in Kalyanpur last night during Saraswati Puja, leaving a class IX student seriously injured. Deepjoy Deb, a resident of Kalyanpur was electrocuted when he accidentally touched an exposed live wire near a puja pandal on School road.

Eyewitnesses reported that Deepjoy fell to the ground immediately upon contact with the wire. Locals rushed to his aid and took him to Kalyanpur hospital. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Khowai District Hospital for advanced treatment. The incident has caused widespread panic in the area, turning the joyous festivities into an atmosphere of fear.

Residents have criticized the puja committee for failing to implement proper safety measures for the electrical connections, which they believe led to the incident. Anger and frustration are mounting among the locals, with many blaming the committee’s mismanagement.

The local administration has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the faulty power connection. Officials have promised strict action against those responsible if negligence is confirmed. Meanwhile, Deepjoy remains under observation at Khowai District Hospital, where doctors are closely monitoring his recovery.
