Agartala, 5th October 2025 : As part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the NSS Unit of Subhashnagar H.S. School successfully concluded the first phase of a two-week awareness campaign with a special health awareness meeting held in the school’s adopted village. The primary objective of this campaign was to spread awareness among the rural population about Tuberculosis (TB), promote healthy preventive habits and inform villagers about available government healthcare facilities.
The inaugural awareness session held on 26th September 2025, witnessed the active participation of around 40 women from the village. During the session, NSS Programme Officer Mr. Raju Roy elaborated on the causes, transmission, symptoms, preventive measures and government initiatives for the treatment of TB. The NSS volunteers engaged with participants, answered their queries and worked to build confidence and awareness among them.
Throughout the two-week campaign, 15 NSS volunteers took part in the activities. They visited multiple households in the adopted village, collected information on potential cases, and conducted door-to-door awareness drives on TB prevention and treatment. An open discussion and awareness meeting was also organized in the village temple courtyard, where information was disseminated through posters, charts, and leaflets. Thanks to the collective efforts of the volunteers, the first phase of the campaign reached 100 families, directly benefiting around 400 villagers.
The campaign was coordinated and led by volunteer Arpita Mishra, who played a pivotal role in planning and executing all activities over the two weeks. She was actively assisted by fellow volunteers Nandini Das, Apurba Shil, Ramkrishna Shil, Shimul Ghosh, Sushmita Das and Shilpa Sharma, whose dedication, teamwork and commitment ensured the success of the initiative.
The awareness campaign went beyond mere information dissemination it helped dispel fear, doubts and misconceptions about TB, especially among rural women, fostering a more positive and health-conscious attitude. Villagers warmly appreciated the NSS Unit’s initiative and lauded the school’s community-oriented efforts.
Under the guidance of Programme Officer Raju Roy, the two-week long campaign was successfully executed, marking a significant contribution toward the national goal of a TB-free India. It is noteworthy that the second phase of the campaign is scheduled to commence on 10th October 2025, which will include wider health awareness programs and other community-focused initiatives.
