Agartala, June 07, 2023: The Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights has initiated an investigation into the abduction of a young girl, following an incident that took place last Saturday in the Badharghat area of Agartala.
The primary suspect, identified as Suman Ghosh from Choumuhani Bazar Narayan Khamar area, allegedly kidnapped the girl. The victim’s family lodged a kidnapping case against Suman Ghosh at Amtali police station on Sunday.
However, despite the filing of the case, the police at Amtali police station have been unsuccessful in locating and rescuing the girl, prompting media attention.
In response to the news report, a member of the State Child Protection and Rights Commission met with the victim’s family on Wednesday to gather detailed information about the incident. Sharmila Chowdhury, a commission member, assured the media that the administration would take all necessary steps to address the situation. She revealed that Suman Ghosh, the alleged abductor from Jamuni Bazar Narayan Khamar area, had previously kidnapped and sexually assaulted the girl. A case of kidnapping and rape was previously filed against him at Amtali Police Station, and although he was initially arrested, he was subsequently released on bail.
The Commission emphasizes the urgency of rescuing the girl and seeks the strictest punishment for the main accused, Suman Ghosh. They are determined to ensure justice for the victim and will work diligently to bring the accused to justice. The commission’s efforts are focused on safeguarding the rights and protection of children in the state, and they will spare no effort in pursuing justice in this case.
