Tension Rises as Miscreants Damage Durga idol in Udaipur

Agartala, 28th September 2025:  Excitement for the Sharadiya Durgotsav at the Brahmabari Shitalabari puja mandap in Udaipur turned to shock and anger on Sunday morning when devotees discovered that the idols of Goddess Durga, along with Lakshmi, Ganesh, and Kartik, had been vandalized. The hands of the idols were reportedly broken, causing distress among the local community.

Preparations for the festival had been underway until late Saturday night, when devotees returned home after completing their arrangements. The vandalism is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

Upon receiving news of the incident, locals immediately rushed to the mandap. Radhakishorpur police reached the scene promptly, followed by the Police Superintendent of Gomti district and other senior officials to oversee the investigation. Authorities have begun examining CCTV footage to identify the miscreants responsible for the attack.

The shocking act of vandalism has sparked anger and tension in the area at the very start of the festival. Police officials have assured the community that the matter is being investigated thoroughly and strict action will be taken against those responsible.

The local administration has urged residents to remain calm and maintain peace during the ongoing festival celebrations.
