Agartala, 13th March 2025: In a concerning trend of thefts targeting religious and educational establishments, a gang of thieves struck an educational institution near Mama’s Dargah in Fultali Bazar under Kamalasagar assembly constituency last night. The culprits broke into the school by smashing a window and fled with a ceiling fan, valuable documents and some cash from the premises.
The incident came to light this morning when a teacher from Vivekananda Shishu Niketan School noticed an open window. Upon entering the room, she found the area in disarray, with the lock on the almirah broken. Upon closer inspection, it was confirmed that the thieves had stolen important items, including money and the ceiling fan. The teacher promptly reported the matter to the Amtali police station and officers rushed to the scene to investigate.
This incident is part of a growing pattern of thefts in the region, where temples, mosques, ashrams, and dargahs have been frequent targets for gangs of thieves. Local residents expressed their frustration, attributing the rise in such incidents to a group of drug dealers and individuals allegedly addicted to pills or other substances in the area.
“The administration needs to take strict measures against these unruly youths who gather near the dargah and are suspected to be involved in these thefts,” stated one of the guardians in the area. Residents believe that an in-depth police investigation will reveal the identities of the culprits and help curb the ongoing thefts.
The Amtali police have assured the public that they are looking into the matter and efforts are underway to arrest the thieves involved in this latest incident.
