Agartala, 27th October 2025: A crucial meeting aimed at finding long-term solutions to the drinking water crisis was held today at the Circuit House in Kailashahar. The session was attended by Social Welfare and Social Education minister Tinku Roy, along with Unakoti District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar (IAS), officials from the District Water and Sanitation (DWS) department, representatives from various government departments, and Pradhan and Upa-Pradhans of all panchayats under the Kailashahar subdivision.
The discussion focused on the current state of drinking water supply, strategies for improving distribution infrastructure, and sustainable solutions to water scarcity in rural areas. Panchayat representatives presented specific challenges and proposals from their respective localities.
Minister Tinku Roy described the meeting as “highly productive and positive,” emphasizing that the active participation and constructive input from all stakeholders played a key role. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring access to clean drinking water for every citizen and promised more effective measures in the coming days.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the district administration and relevant departments were instructed to formulate a comprehensive action plan to address both short-term and long-term water supply issues across the region.
