Sonamura Police Seize Contraband Worth Rs 5.5 Lakh During Night Patrol

Agartala, 5th August 2026:   In a major success against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances, Sonamura Police recovered and seized a large quantity of suspected contraband during a mobile night patrol.

Acting on routine mobile duty, police personnel recovered the unclaimed items from the NC Nagar Border Road and near a brick industry at Dhanpur. During the operation, officers seized 40 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup and 4,900 Tapentadol tablets.

As no claimant came forward to establish ownership, the seized items were taken into custody after observing all legal formalities and treated as unclaimed property.The estimated black market value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs 5.5 lakh.

Sonamura Police Station has registered the seizure and launched an investigation to identify the persons responsible for possessing and transporting the recovered items. Further investigation is underway.
