Agartala, September 16, 2023: A group of ten people from the transgender community, who are often discriminated against and marginalized in the society, showed an act of humanity and compassion on Friday afternoon.

They rescued a pregnant woman who was suffering from mental imbalance and took her to the hospital. However, they faced negligence and apathy from the doctors, who refused to provide any service.

The group then decided to keep the woman with them and delivered her baby at home. They later took the mother and the child to another hospital, where they were declared healthy.

The group, led by Jhumur, also known as Mustafa Sheikh, handed over the child to Child Line, a helpline for children in distress. They said that they wanted to secure the future of the child and protect her from any harm. They were emotional and tearful as they parted with the child.

Jhulan Chandra Das, the chairman of the Gomati district committee of the Child Welfare Department, appreciated the transgender group for their noble deed and said that they had set an example for the society.
