Agartala, 15th December 2024:   The Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, has achieved national recognition for its innovative Beneficiary Management System (BMS), an advanced Data Build Tool Platform developed in-house.

The department was announced as the winner under the “INITIATIVE IN IT” category at the prestigious 15th National Digital Transformation Awards 2024.

Speaking to reporters, Raghul Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director of IT, expressed pride in receiving the accolade presented by Gov-Connect, an iLounge Media initiative. “This award highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality services, fostering innovation, and driving impactful change across the state,” he said.

The award ceremony was part of the 15th Digital Transformation Conclave 2024, co-hosted by the Department of IT, Government of Assam, and Gov-Connect. These annual awards are considered a significant benchmark in recognizing excellence and inspiring progress in digital governance.

The Beneficiary Management System (BMS-DBT platform) was launched in 2020-21 to revolutionize the delivery of welfare benefits in Tripura. Since its inception, the platform has onboarded 100 welfare schemes across 23 departments, transitioning them to a fully online mode. According to the Tripura Ration Card Database, 11,60,912 beneficiaries have been covered from the state’s 39,48,350 population, with Rs. 1,594.30 crore disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT).

Highlighting its impact, the IT Director noted key features such as enhanced accountability, transparency, elimination of fake beneficiaries, streamlined processes, paperless operations, reduced response times, and improved citizen engagement.

As an invited speaker during the knowledge-sharing session at the conclave, the Director also delivered a presentation on the “Digital Tripura” initiative, showcasing the state’s progress in embracing technology.

“This award reflects the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of our entire team at the Directorate of IT. It reinforces our commitment to improving citizens’ lives, building a brighter future, and advancing the vision of a ‘Digital Tripura’ under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy,” said Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS.

The situation has sparked anger across the ward, with many residents now questioning their decision to vote for Santana Saha. They demand immediate action from the councilor and AMC authorities to address the dire state of civic infrastructure in the area.
