Agartala, 10th December 2025: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that the 2025 Unity Promo Fest has witnessed unprecedented public participation since its launch on November 8, giving a substantial boost to local businesses and the rural tourism sector across the state.
Addressing the media, Chowdhury said the festival’s final celebration will be held on December 12 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala. Tripura’s Tourism Brand Ambassador Sourav Ganguly will grace the occasion, while celebrated Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal is set to enthrall audiences with a live performance. Free passes for the closing ceremony are already available, he added. The event will also be attended by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, cabinet ministers, and top government officials.
Reflecting on the festival’s journey, the minister noted that the inaugural function at Narkelkunja on November 8 set the tone for a vibrant month-long celebration. The South District event, held on November 15–16, saw a spectacular turnout of more than 60,000 visitors—an experience that many locals described as historic in scale.
The celebrations in Udaipur on November 18–19, featuring a performance by singer Papon, also drew close to 50,000 attendees. On November 28–29, the government opened the newly developed Eden Tourist Lodge at Jampui Hills as part of the ongoing festival programs. Similarly, the December 5–6 event at Neermahal attracted thousands of tourists and residents, reinforcing the growing enthusiasm for the fest.
Chowdhury highlighted that the initiative has significantly increased participation from tour operators, rising from 78 last year to 122 this year, with international delegates from Myanmar, Malaysia, Bhutan, and Thailand joining the lineup. He stated that such expansive tourism promotional efforts were never undertaken by previous administrations.
On the security front, Inspector General (Law & Order) Ipper Menchak noted that the festival has remained incident-free so far. However, he acknowledged that the grand finale will pose substantial logistical challenges due to the expected massive turnout.
He detailed the arrangements in place: eight entry gates for crowd regulation, strict screening with restrictions on all items except water bottles, six designated parking areas along with six no-parking zones, and three alternate routes announced for smoother vehicle movement. A public advisory has also been issued, urging attendees to remain seated and avoid blocking passageways—a problem experienced during last year’s event.
Authorities assured that all necessary measures are being implemented to ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable concluding celebration for visitors.
