Agartala, 22nd October 2025: A woman sustained critical injuries following a violent altercation with another tenant in the Banikya Chowmuhani area under Bodhjungnagar police station. The incident took place this evening in the Shantipara Panchayat locality and has left the victim battling for her life at GBP Hospital.
Local sources informed that the two women Rupa Debbarma and Riya (Sukhrani) Debbarma were residing as tenants in separate rooms of a house owned by Sudhangshu Das. A personal dispute between them reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation. Locals allege that Riya, who was under the influence of alcohol, violently assaulted Rupa, causing severe injuries.
Emergency responders from Bodhjungnagar Police and the Fire Service rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. Fire personnel evacuated the injured Rupa and transported her to GBP Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Police have detained the accused, Riya Debbarma, from the scene. During preliminary interrogation, she admitted that both she and Rupa had consumed alcohol prior to the altercation. Riya hails from Ambassa, while Rupa is a resident of Mandai.
Authorities have registered a case against Riya for assault and intoxication. Bodhjungnagar Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.
