Agartala, 14th February 2025:   A workshop aimed at improving the quality of AYUSH medical services was held today at Pragya Bhavan, attended by officials and medical professionals associated with the State AYUSH Mission.

The event was organized under the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura branch and focused on training community health officers while also discussing ways to enhance AYUSH healthcare services in the state.

Arup Deb, Joint Mission Director of the National Health Mission, was present at the workshop alongside Dr. Gourishankar Bhowmik, Head of the Office of Agartala State Ayurvedic Hospital, Dr. Supratim Bir, Branch Officer of the Planning Department of Family Planning and Immunization Rights, and Dr. Subrata Deb, Branch Officer of AYUSH. They emphasized the significance of integrating AYUSH with modern medical systems to provide holistic healthcare solutions to the people of Tripura.

The workshop provided specialized training to community health officers, equipping them with the necessary skills to implement AYUSH practices effectively. The discussions also centered around the importance of strengthening AYUSH infrastructure and enhancing its accessibility for better healthcare outcomes.

AYUSH, an important component of India’s healthcare system, comprises five traditional medical disciplines—Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Recognizing the immense potential of these ancient healing methods, the Government of India established the Ministry of AYUSH to support and promote their practice.

The primary goal of AYUSH is to revive India’s rich medical heritage and integrate it with modern medicine for comprehensive health benefits. By doing so, it aims to enhance physical and mental well-being, enabling individuals to lead healthier lives. The Ministry of AYUSH continues to play a crucial role in expanding the reach of traditional medicine while ensuring its scientific validation and efficacy.

The National Health Mission Tripura branch, in a press release, highlighted the workshop’s importance in strengthening the AYUSH system in the state and reaffirmed its commitment to improving public healthcare services through integrated medical approaches.
