Agartala, September 17, 2023: In a resounding display of civic responsibility and environmental consciousness, the youth of the city have come forward to pledge their commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in alignment with this fervent spirit, formally inaugurated the “Youth Volunteer Sevak’s Swachhata Awareness Procession” on Sunday. This procession is part of the “Integrated Sanitation Initiative 2.0” (ISL 2.0) organized by Agartala Municipal Corporation .
The event witnessed the presence of AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, along with all corporators and other esteemed guests. The procession commenced its journey from Umakanta School, winding its way through the city’s streets and concluding in front of the iconic Ujjayanta Palace.
Notably, the program is set to be celebrated across all 51 wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The core objective of this initiative is to foster a nationwide commitment to achieving a garbage-free India. Agartala Municipal Corporation plays a pivotal role in orchestrating this collective effort.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary initiatives to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a “Swachh India” have found resonance in this program. Minister Singha Roy affirmed that this program marks the beginning of the second phase in continuing the Prime Minister’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable India.
