The All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), led by its president Ravinder Pandita, on Sunday called on Union Minister Jitendra Singh and submitted a memorandum on the Exodus Day on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits.
AIKS also presented a special issue of Naad, the mouthpiece of the organisation featuring the Kashmiri Pandit Exodus, an AIKS statement said.
During the meeting, various short-term and long-term issues pertaining to the community welfare were discussed.
Jitendra Singh hailed the spirit of the Kashmiri community for withstanding the exodus and their efforts to settle in various parts of the country after the exodus.
The AIKS also apprised the minister of the migrants property act and the distress sale act covered under the court case and pending adjudication.
“Our community is still facing lots of hardships, and our rehabilitation back into the Valley should be prioritised along with short-term demands,” Ravinder Pandita said.
The AIKS president was accompanied by general secretary Sunil Koul, joint general secretary Ashish Zutshi, advisor Sanjay Sapru, Shrawan Pandita, and others.
The members of the organisation also carried pamphlets written ‘We Still Exist,’ highlighting the plight of the community and the burning issues.
