Kishan Reddy participates in Swachh Bharat program in Hyderabad

Date:

Union Minister of Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President, G Kishan Reddy, participated on Wednesday in the Swachh Bharat program held at Kalasiguda Park, Line Road, Secunderabad.

Speaking to the media, Reddy highlighted that the Swachh Bharat initiative was launched by the BJP government ten years ago in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

He emphasised that the program aims to maintain cleanliness in the surrounding areas and stressed the importance of public participation alongside government efforts to achieve this goal.

“Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government but also requires the active participation and cooperation of the people. India is a vast country with a large population. Without hygiene, the health of the nation cannot be ensured,” Reddy stated.

He noted that people from all walks of life, including IAS and IPS officers, as well as students and residents from towns and cities, are participating in this cleanliness drive, which he termed a positive development.

Reddy recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s words during the freedom movement, where Gandhi stated that purity was as important as independence, as the latter would inevitably follow.

On this occasion, the Union Minister urged citizens to actively engage in the Swachh Bharat initiative, adding that it is the responsibility of every individual to keep their surroundings clean.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched this program with the vision of a healthy country through healthy citizens,” Reddy said.

He emphasised that Swachh Bharat should not be seen merely as a government program but rather as a people’s movement inspired by Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness.

Earlier, Reddy paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his statue at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk, MG Road, Secunderabad, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
