AICC General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi condoled the demise of legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair.
The 91-yesr-old Jnanpith laureate died in a hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday night, where he was admitted a few days ago with breathing difficulties.
“With the passing of Shri M.T. Vasudevan Nair, we bid adieu to a genius who transformed literature and cinema into powerful mediums of cultural expression,” Priyanka Gandhi said in a message.
“His narratives captured the depth of human emotions and the essence of Kerala’s heritage,” she said.
“A true custodian of our art and literature, his loss is deeply felt by the entire nation. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. His legacy will live on in every story he told and every heart he touched,” she added.
Condoling the demise, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, MP, said “The literary and cinematic world dims today with the passing of MT Vasudevan Nair. A legend in Malayalam literature and cinema, MT’s works resonated deeply with the cultural fabric of Malayali life, weaving human emotions and societal dilemmas into unforgettable narratives.”
“Over seven decades, he enriched us with many novels, short story collections, film scripts, and much more,” KC Venugopal said.
“His literary works such as Randamoozham, Manju, Kaalam and Nalukettu have left an indelible mark on Kerala’s culture. His films like Nirmalyam, Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, and Kadavu remain timeless treasures.”
“The Jnanpith Award and countless accolades stand as testaments to his unparalleled genius,” he said.
“More than an artist, he was a guide, a mentor, and a beacon of inspiration for generations. His passing feels deeply personal to many of us who grew up with his words and vision. Rest in peace, MT. Your legacy will live on forever,” he added.
