The first session of the Tamil Nadu
Legislative Assembly in the New Year will continue till
January 13.
A decision on the duration of the session was taken at the
Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held at the
chamber of Assembly Speaker M.Appavu at the State
Secretariat in which floor leaders of various parties took
part.
The proceedings will be adjourned tomorrow after adopting
condolence resolution to the death of sitting Congress MLA
Thirumahan Everaa last week and adopted obituary references
to the death of past members who died during the intervening
period.
The debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his
address will be held on January 11 and 12 and on January 13,
Leaders of the Opposition Edappadi K.Palaniswami will wind
up the debate and it would be followed by a reply from the
Chief Minister.
Bills if any tabled in the House, will be passed on the last day,
Appavu told reporters.
The session began today with the customary address by
Governor as the House witnessed tumultous scenes with
the Governor skipping some portions from the prepared
text, ruling DMK alliance partner’s walking out against the
Governor’s ‘Tamizhagam’ remark, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin
moving a resolution to retain in Assembly records portions
skipped by the Governor and the Governor walking out
without waiting for the recital of the National anthem.
