TN: Election officials seize Rs 1 Cr cash from Village Panchayat President’s house

 In a major seizure ahead of the Lok Sabha election, the Election Flying Squad officials seized Rs One Crore cash from the house of Ettarai Panchayat Union President A.Dhivya at Ettarai village in Tiruchirapalli district on Friday night.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Saturday, District Collector M.Pradeep Kumar said based on specific information received by the election control room in the district collector office, the election officials conducted a search in the house and found unaccounted currency notes amounted to a staggering Rs one crore stuffed in a bag.

The cash was reportedly brought to the house in a car.

Investigations are underway from various angles to find out whether the cash was stashed in the house for bribing voters or some other purposes.

The Income Tax officials were informed about the seizure.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Dhivya’s husband Anbarasan is a close relative of an ex-AIADMK Minister.
